Virginia Wine Half Marathon

Yesterday was definitely not the best day for 13.1 miles! It was already 70+ degrees at 5am! By 10am it was over 90. Blah. Definitely did not turn out to be one of my better races but it was a fun day overall. Up at 4:15am to get ready then drove out to Virginia wine country to the winery where the race started. The halfway point was a wine and water stop. Then more rolling hills to run (or walk, as the case may have been….) back to the finish where there was a giant wine festival. We skipped that and went to the winery that we ran on a team for (North Gate Vineyard) and hung out there, enjoyed a free wine tasting, and even some wood fired pizza. Then dehydration set in and I was generally useless the rest of the day and even slept the hour ride back home.
